MOSAIC & Light Sport

The easiest pilot certificate to earn.

Under the FAA's new MOSAIC rule (Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certificates), more aircraft — including the Vans RV-12 and several Light Sport configurations — can be flown with a Sport Pilot certificate.

Sport Pilot
  • As little as 20 hours of flight training
  • No medical exam required — a valid driver's license is enough
  • Fly day/VFR in light aircraft, one passenger
  • The fastest, most affordable path to becoming a pilot
Why it matters here

Most of the aircraft we build — especially the RV-12 and other Light Sport models — are designed to be flown with a Sport Pilot certificate. That means lower training costs, less time to solo, and more time flying.

The Nonprofit Behind It

Real grandpas building real airplanes.

Every aircraft we deliver is built by a crew of retired Boeing engineers, veterans, and seniors at the Silver Eagle Project — a nonprofit man-shed in Arlington, Washington. We also restore classic cars in the same shop.

When you buy a plane from us, you're not just getting an airplane. You're putting purpose into the hands of people who spent their lives building things that fly.

The Place

A real workshop. A real home.

Five bays. Full tooling for sheet-metal aircraft work. And — for Build Assist guests from out of town — a place to stay onsite while you build your airplane.
